There are several upcoming events which we will require crews for, some of these are the 2nd welsh ranking event at St Davids which is on the 3rd and 4th July. please make your availability known, there is likely to be some surf so this is a good oppurtunity to get hours in surf.
ERBA page updated
After last years success the "Where is the IRB this week" competition will be running again soon, so keep an eye out on the website for the official start date and first picture.
For the past 2 weeks IRB tuesdays has been running, week 1 with a little wave devoloping surf skills with porthcawl club members which was very succesful, week 2 flat water with alot of new faces to IRB`s this gave a good oppurtunity to get new people started in the IRB. IRB tuesdays will be running every tuesday unless stated otherwise on the website, held at Coney Beach, hope to see you all there.
June 7th
We plan to start weekly ‘IRB Tuesdays’ from the 8 June at 6pm – venue Coney Beach.
If you have members who need training for exams or wish to brush up on their skills this could be the ideal opportunity.

We have 2 events in the next few weeks where IRB cover is needed and I was hoping Crews from the South Wales Clubs with boats could offer assistance in covering these events.
If the events this summer are shared between all of the Clubs it makes life a lot easier for all of us.
Event 1 – Junior Training Weekend Pembrey
Cover needed Sat 5 June and Sun 6 June. This is a busy SLSA Wales Junior weekend and we need at least 2 boats there over the whole of the weekend plus crews.
Event 2 – Surf Boat Competition Coney Beach
Cover needed Sat 5 June 10am – 2pm. This is a surf boat competition for UK Surf Rowers League we cover and we need 2 boats plus crews from 10am to 2pm to lay cans and offer safety cover.
Expenses will be paid for fuel.
Please contact me by email or phone 01656 667349/07974 128882 to advise your Clubs availability so I can allocate appropriate cover so that we can all hopefully have a pleasant time on the water this summer.
I will email events as they happen and hope I can count on support from you. Also we plan on starting ‘IRB Wednesdays’ after the Whitsun break for IRB Crew/Driver training in the evenings - probably starting 9 June at 6pm in Coney. Again please contact me for details.
SLSA wales spent last sunday training and examining 5 members of the Barry St John lifeguards and would like to congradulate these members on qaulifying for thier drivers and crewmans.
Once again SLSA wales sent a team to the German IRB championships, from all that went a big thankyou to everyone for thier great hospitality and an excellent weekend.
April 20th
Thankfully the sun has now started to come out and thoughts are slowly turning to the Ocean.
We are starting the season as per usual with our annual preseason IRB Training Weekend - which this year will be at a new venue Coney Beach, Porthcawl.
The training weekend will follow its normal format with next weekend - Sat 24 April and Sun 25 April - 10am start.
No previous experience is necessary if you or your Club members wish to attend - but you need to be aged 16 plus.
Over the weekend we will cover IRB maintenance and servicing, best practices both on and off the water, driver and crew skills, rescue techniques, surf driving (if we have any) and IRB Competition.
Approx 10 boats will be available so if you fancy coming down for a look or want to get onto the water and brush up on your skills or learn a bit about the IRB call in at the Clubhouse at Porthcawl SLSC between 10am and 4pm on Sat 24 April or Sun 25 April.
We also have an evening ‘debrief session’ planned at the Jolly Sailor Pub in Porthcawl for Saturday night for those who wish to meet in a slightly warmer environment – from 8 till late. Again no previous experience is necessary.
If you require additional information feel free to contact me at Powercraft@slsawales.org or 07974 128882.
